07-14. Three Wishes for a Genie--Wish One

Bunter had been thinking very seriously about an idea that had come to him after Caprice's Reform the Rep date. That date had left his old reputation in tatters. Caprice had paraded him around town, making sure everyone recognized her claims on him. The whole village no longer saw Bunter as Exploring his Options. He was seen as Eternally Faithful. No more playing the field for Vinnie Bunter!

But Bunter was surprisingly content with the loss of his dating freedom. He only wanted Caprice. And so, he'd made up his mind. In an ironic twist, His Lordship, the romantically awkward Piers was now Bunter's role model in yet another life adventure. Bunter was going to take the plunge! Well, if Caprice agreed, that is. But would she?

Bunter drove Caprice back to the gardens where he'd once come clean with her about his past. She'd accepted his confession and then had caught him off guard by informing him they were now committed. But he had agreed readily enough to be her Steady after discovering that he really, truly was in love with Caprice.
_____
So here he was, facing Caprice once again, his heart in his throat. Bunter drew on all his experience, skills, and romantic arsenal. He was entering unknown territory now!

Bunter: Caprice, do you remember our time here in the garden? Remember how you told me we were in a committed relationship?
Caprice: Of course, Marvin. Oh! Don't tell me you've changed your mind--because I won't let you treat me this way! I'll go to His Lordship and ...
Bunter: Shh, none of that, Sweetheart. I'm a reformed man. A very committed man. No need for tears. I don't want you to be worried or afraid of me, Caprice.
Bunter: There is only one thing I wish for right now. And I'm hoping you wish for it too. I think you do, luv. I can see it in your eyes.
Bunter: Will you marry me, Caprice? You will, won't you? You must say yes. Or I'LL go to His Lordship and tell him how you broke my heart!
Caprice (laughing): Marvin! I do say yes! Absolutely!
Caprice: Oh, Marvin! It's like a dream, a real life fairy tale!
Bunter: Well, I'm no prince, but I promise to be a decent kind of man.
At the back of Bunter's mind, he reminded himself that he wasn't so sure he correctly knew what being decent actually meant--not fully. The Djinn weren't exactly known for their upstanding, honorable natures!
Bunter would have to have another talk with Lord Piers about the subject. He wouldn't want to disappoint Caprice.
_____
Meanwhile, since they were in town, Bunter thought he and Caprice would try out the Romance Room at the local inn. A night away from the toddlers would be welcome. He'd need to give Hera a call though.
Unfortunately, his first decision as an engaged man proved to be a bad plan. The walls were thin and they could hear tourists chatting just outside their door.
In fact, the whole place was swarming with out-of-towners. A real mood killer.

Caprice: Nevermind, Marvin. Let's have a nice meal in the outdoor cafe, then we'll head home. I want to share our news with Hera right away! I have parties to plan! I'm so excited.
Caprice: All right, the first thing we need to do is have you meet my family. It will be so good to see them again. And won't they be shocked. Married to a genie of all things! Of course you'll have to ask my father for his blessing.

Bunter: Your father? You have a father?
Caprice: Naturally! What did you think? That I sprung from a flower?
Bunter: I guess I just hadn't considered the possibility of a father.
Caprice: And brothers, too, Marvin. I have brothers. And speaking of brothers ...
Caprice: ... We need to find Emad. That little feud of yours has gone on way too long.
Bunter: Caprice, it's more than just a feud. You do remember that we sent Emad out of this world, banished him for good? There's no way we could find him--even if we wanted to. But that was a beautiful thought, luv. I wish we could locate him, but well, there you go!

Caprice: Don't be silly, Marvin. Of course we can find Emad! We still have our powers, you know. I have complete faith in your ability to get your brother back here for the wedding.

Bunter (muttering): Havers! Bloody ...
Caprice: Marvin! What did you say?
Bunter: I said half-brother. Emad is only my half-brother.
Caprice: Now, now, darling. Family is family.
