01-04. Lord Piers Alone

I need to make some decisions about what Piers will be doing for money! He had a tax bill arrive for around 1300 simoleons, and I sold a bath tub and a couple of other items to pay for it. At this rate, his funds will be down to nothing real soon! Right now, I've managed to build his original funds up to around 18,000 (by selling unnecessary house items). He doesn't have a car with him either.

My story idea is that Piers wanted to spend time in a quiet environment to research some science experiments he'd been studying in relation to new criminal investigation techniques. He bought the vacant Irish estate because it had room for equipment and was fairly isolated. (Dr Frankenstein?) Piers has given himself only so much money on this project, not wanting to touch his other funds and investments, leaving his home in London in the hands of trusted managers.

From playing last night, I realized I not only needed to think about raising money, I also needed to bring in more characters. Piers is acting lonely, and the estate upkeep will be claiming a lot of his time! He can't afford hired help, even though he wished for a butler. Should I open the estate to boarders? Hire an assistant? Send for his valet? ...All of the above?

The second day at the estate, Piers woke up not feeling his best This is the first time I've had an Unstable sim, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Some deep breaths helped Piers through this rough spot. He's worrying how he'll ever get work done on his scientific ideas.

He tried his hand at making waffles with "horrifying" results. The poor guy was so hungry, he was going to eat them anyway. I told him to clean that mess up and eat cereal instead. At least he's gained a point or two in cooking now. This was when Piers got a wish for a butler!

The first day, Piers kept wanting to pick up the puppies, but his actions were canceled out by everything else going on. The second day, he managed to carry through with what he wanted to do. I was surprised to find that he wanted the pups to be inside the house. He brought them both indoors. ...Ok, Piers. But if they piddle on the hardwood floors, you're going to have to mop it up yourself!

Bringing Mulder and Clouseau indoors meant that I had to have supplies for them inside too. And this time, Piers decided to make himself an Autumn salad to eat. A wise choice. ...There's the abandoned sea polyp on the counter.

These little guys had been wanting to get inside to bark at the fridge both in Twinbrook and here. Now they had their chance!
