05-10. A Fool's Game

My current update needs to go back to before the parties and the wedding. Back to when Caprice and Hera had just finished up the renovations. Back to when Bunter headed out to trap the Kraken.

The last furnishings to be added to the manor were for the nursery. The guys hadn't heard about this nursery idea. They watched as the construction crew began demolishing the research subject dorm room. Then, new wallpaper, rugs, strange furniture arrived at once.

The men weren't too surprised to see a rocker sitting outside the former dorm. Everyone loves a rocking chair.


But they were a bit shocked to discover baby furniture in the renovated room.
Bunter: They planning for the future, sir?
Piers: Right. Just thinking ahead, s'all, while the workers are here. But, why two cribs?
Bunter: Maybe an infant dirties a crib too quickly. One needs a spare.
Piers: Suppose so.


Piers: The examination table is well designed.
Bunter: I think this is where nappies are changed, M'Lord.
Piers: Oh. Of course.


Piers: A rather complex contraption.
Bunter: I believe it cradles the infant when both cribs are dirty.
Piers: Tots mess things up that badly?
Bunter: So it appears.


Bunter: The swing works like this, with the baby strapped inside.
Piers: Should we start it up, see it in action?
Bunter: Might as well practice with the toy.
Piers: Quite! Let's give it a go, shall we?

Meanwhile, Caprice has been thinking about Bunter's Fairy Tale Blarney, getting more upset by the minute. What is he hiding? Has she made a fool of herself? (Caprice autonomously chose to rant about romance.)

Caprice: Careful, girls! Watch out for that guy whose easy smile beguiles you! The one you find suave and attractive. The someone who sets your heart fluttering, who makes you think naughty things!


Caprice: I say: Beware! Don't believe a word he says! He'll say anything he thinks you want to hear. Anything! Paradise! Romantic tents! Fun in haystacks! ..."How beautiful you are, Caprice!" ..."I can't stop thinking about you, Caprice!" ..."Say yes, Caprice!"


Caprice: Don't do it! Say No--NO! He's telling lies! All the time, lies! He'll break your heart. You're heading straight for heartache!


"It's a Heartache." 



But is Caprice hurt enough to wish Marvin...dead? 
Or is someone else out there ranting against him? 


Poor Bunter.
