05-17. The Wedding that Almost Wasn't

I plan to post more detailed updates later, but just had to share this rant and preview.

Last night, I really struggled to get Piers and Hera married. I almost gave up. Everything was going ok until time for the wedding to start, then weird things happened. First, I opened the latest save and had everyone dress in their new formals. This was about an hour before the party was suppose to begin.

Guests started arriving, but bunched up at the front door like the sim-wits they are, causing a delay in the party. I watched as two of them got reset by the game. Poof! They just disappeared. That's when I noticed that Piers and Hera both had MISSED THE WEDDING moodlets!  I restarted the game, but used the save from just a little before the last, the one about two hours before the wedding.

Here are the sim-wits who caused Piers and Hera to miss the wedding held at their own house.

The other save didn't help. Bunter got reset twice. He came back with his photography career gone and a wish to join law enforcement. The second time he got reset, he wanted to be a ghost hunter. I had to restart the game two more times because I didn't want to straighten him out while trying to begin a wedding with sim-wits still stomping their feet at the front door and getting poofed away!

The sim-wits strike again, this time with umbrellas and annoying thought bubbles.

The fourth time I opened the game, I made sure Bunter didn't move a muscle til I could get Hera and Piers dressed. I watched as another sim-wit poofed off the front porch. But this time, Bunter didn't get reset...Hera and Piers did!
I checked their stats when they showed back up and they seemed ok, except they had the MISSED THE WEDDING moodlets again! Well, too bad! I used a cheat to cancel those. Then I clicked on the wedding arch and told them to Get Married.

Which worked at first until Hera got stuck behind a sim-wit and lost her Get Married queue.  So I teleported her to Piers and clicked the arch again. GET THE HECK MARRIED NOW! By this time, it was 2:00 am RT for me and I was about to cry.  Never has a sim wedding been so much trouble. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep until I got through this. So, I kept at it.

Piers and Hera were dragged to the altar after standing each other up...twice.

The bride and groom finally stepped under the arch. I didn't even care if anyone watched. But luckily a few guests had enough brains to sit down and attend. The others wandered off to dance or play in the pool. Piers and Hera got married. It was beautiful, but I was tense and tired the whole time. It was like yah, yah ...ring ...kiss ...married ...who cares.

Then I noticed that they took Hera's last name. Oh, right. She'd been the one to propose. Dang! I had to use a cheat to change their last name to Wimsel because, really, a British Lord would not take a commoner's name without some big backstory, and I had none to offer.

Survivors of The Wedding From Hell. I almost killed them with a meteor.

We made it through the ceremony and cake cutting. I rounded up all the guests by telling them to come get something to eat from the buffet table. That's when they all started stomping their feet again, complaining that they wanted to do the dishes! Oh, for criminy sake! There's a genie here. Leave the darn dishes alone.

Step aside! I'm taking care of these dirty plates.

Clouseau and Mulder were so traumatized by the whole thing, they spent hours guarding their food bowls from the sim-wit guests.

Later that night, after all the guests were gone, when Piers and Hera were in bed, I noticed Piers had an option to Compliment Hera's Bravery. For what? Getting married? Going to bed with him?

All jokes aside, I got them out of bed to see if he still had that interaction available. He did. So it wasn't about their woohoo.  What was he talking about? When had she been Brave? The breath holding contest?

Or maybe Hera's bravery was about autonomously interrupting Bunter flirting with Ruth. Good thing he only complimented Ruth's appearance and personality before ambling off (slightly soused) to play video games. Anything more serious and I would have made him a true card-carrying Brother of the Woeful Countenance, celibate for the rest of his digital existence!

Bunter pressed his luck with an exhausted, irritated Watcher...namely, me!

Just before I closed the game, I saw unicorn lights near the Wimsel home. I'm hoping it's a sign things will go better the next time I enter the game. Still, at 3:30 am, I crawled into bed vowing never to hold a public sim-wit wedding on the home lot again.
