I spent a little time in Roaring Heights today. This is my mermaid, Anabel Lee. Her lover is Elliot Nest, the big city cop and super spy.
Anabel craves adventure, things new and exciting. Elliot is driven; he's determined to clear HIS town of riff-raff. But Anabel is tired of being taken for granted, waiting for Elliot to put a ring on her finger! And even if she gets her ring...what then? She's not the house-wifey type.
It's not that Elliot doesn't want to marry Anabel. She's always on his mind. He has it bad for the dame.
But how's he suppose to make it right for her? He may have reached the top of Enforcement, but crime doesn't retire. No way. There's a lot in the world that needs to be made right.
Like the Marx brothers. Something's way off with those guys. But Elliot can't get them to talk. Sneaky SOBs!
So he'll just have to dig up some dirt the hard way.
And it's all going down in his report...
Meanwhile, after finishing her first dramatic novel, "Swimming Alone," Anabel is eager to experience new things. She needs to make that happen because Elliot sure won't!
And Anabel isn't waiting around anymore. She thinks about the future as she swims in icy waters.
She and Elliot have accomplished a lot together. Sure, he got the dough to buy the place, but it was her creativity and social skills that made the fantasy Mermaid Resort the success it is!
The resort pretty much runs on its own now. And Anabel wants to travel.
She is not giving up on any of her dreams. As Anabel breakfasts on fresh fish, with the sun rising behind her, she realizes: this is the day!
When Elliot comes home from work, she's going to meet him at the door with a drink in one hand and plane tickets in the other...
